I was here
An application that helps travelers to easily record their trips and manage their travel budget using their credit card.
( Case Study 2018 )
Overview
According to research, the most frequently issued credit card in 2017 was Chase Sapphire Preferred Card. Many credit card companies are selling cards with travel benefits to follow growing demand for travel. More than 61% of travelers use their credit cards when traveling, because they do not have any exchange fees and can use their points for airline or hotel use. The project is designed to increase loyalty to customers and card companies to create additional business models through data collection.
Problem
Many people want to have a travel records of their trip. However most of the workers are busier after traveling, and the information such as the place, the location, etc.traveled over that time becomes increasingly difficult to remember. In addition, many people have spent more money than they thought during a trip. How can I easily and accurately record travel and manage a budget?
Insights
I conducted user interviews to drive the planning phase. These are the key findings that defined the initial version of the product.
Differentiating points
Common SNS services and trip journals should be represented differently.

Storyboard
A product begins from a single point. For me, this is empathy. I use storyboard to depict empathy and map our user journey. Drawing this out enables me to imagine on product features and feasibility path.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Route Test
The first attempt mapped travel route based on credit card transactions. I often traveled on foot, bicycles and cars. However, car travels often resulted in long distances between transactions which made me think twice about the value of tracking credit card transactions.
Based on this experiment, we added tracking on/off feature that enabled users to discard routes that are not relevant.
Photo location & Payment location matching test
We tested the idea of using payment locations and photo location to reconstruct a travel journey. Our intuition was correct and most travel destinations incurred credit card transactions and matched the location of the photos taking around that time.

User Test
In order to validate the task flow, we started with paper test. Next, wireframe prototype test was performed to validate the usability our the design. Lastly, preliminary test was performed to test intuition of the final design.

Conclusion
This case study focuses on the process of validating and solving the problem, and if the service is actually provided by a credit card company, it will be possible to use more user data as well as an automatic credit card connection. The credit card company can analyze the card usage patterns during the travel of the user. As the service becomes more active, it can develop into a community where users can share photos and travel routes.
